Prep Packs

A Prep Pack puts your lessons together around a goal or event you’re working toward: private sessions, plus Performance Labs and a MasterClass where they fit. Learn more about Prep Packs.

Who are Prep Packs for?

Anyone with something to work toward: an audition, a speech, an interview, a performance, or stage fright. There are packs for people preparing for something, and for people just getting started.

How do I find the right Prep Pack?

Answer a few questions on the Prep Packs page and I’ll show you what fits.

What does a Prep Pack include?

Private sessions, plus Performance Labs and a MasterClass where they fit. Countdown and The Long Game start with a consultation: we sit down and plan what you need.

Are there Prep Packs for children?

Yes, one, for ages 9 to 17: Stage Ready, fifteen private sessions and a MasterClass performer spot. It doesn’t include Performance Labs, which are for adults, 18 and up.

How long do I have to use a Prep Pack?

Each pack is valid for the time shown with it on the Prep Packs page: 1, 4, 6, 12 or 17 weeks. Your pack’s weeks start at your first session.

How do I book a Prep Pack?

Book all your dates before you pay. Your pack’s weeks start at your first session. Sessions are booked no more than 2 weeks apart. Within that time, you choose: once a week, twice a week, or a 90-minute session that counts as two.

Is a MasterClass included?

In three packs: The Long Game, Getting Confident and Stage Ready each include a MasterClass performer spot. Your performer spot is booked with your pack.

Can I use an eGift Card for a Prep Pack?

Yes, for three of them: Last-Minute Rush A, Last-Minute Rush B and Getting Started.

What if I don’t use every session?

Sessions not used in time expire and are not refunded.

Consultations

For creatives like artists, speakers and entrepreneurs who want to figure out their next move, brainstorm ideas, plan their career direction, or map out a creative strategy, with a coach who’s been in the biz for a very long time. Not therapy, just a focused working session. Learn more about Consultations.

Who are consultations for?

Consultations are for artists, speakers and entrepreneurs seeking perspective, planning support, or strategic input. A young performer is welcome with a parent.

How do consultations differ from lessons?

Consultations focus on evaluation, planning, and decision-making rather than skill training.

Can consultations address professional or creative direction?

Yes. Consultations may be used for industry questions, project planning, self-employment decisions, event preparation, and collaborative challenges.

Are consultations a standalone offering?

Yes. Consultations may be booked independently of lessons or workshops.

Can consultations be online or in person?

Yes; both in-person and online (across Canada and the US) options are available.

Are consultations therapy or counselling?

No. Consultations focus on practical evaluation and clear next steps.

MasterClass

A seasonal, in-person session inside a church sanctuary where up to six performers are guided and coached in front of a live audience and learn in real time what it’s like to really perform. Learn more about the MasterClass.

Who attends MasterClass?

Performers and observers. Every spot must be booked in advance.

Where and when is the MasterClass?

At Kimbourne Park United Church (Coxwell & Danforth), on a Sunday once a season, four times a year, 1:30 to 3:30pm. The dates are on the MasterClass page.

Is the MasterClass a recital?

No. It’s a workshop: a place to learn how to perform in real time, in front of an audience. Nobody expects a polished show.

Who performs at the MasterClass?

Singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and spoken word artists, speakers, presenters, actors, comedians and storytellers. Kids 9 and up, teens and adults.

Do I need experience?

No, not at all. Every level is welcome, from first-timers to experienced performers.

How do I get a performer spot?

Performer spots are by invitation, six per MasterClass. Apply to perform, and if you’re accepted, I’ll send you an invitation. It holds your spot for 7 days (48 hours if the MasterClass is less than 2 weeks away). Applying doesn’t hold a spot.

Performed at a MasterClass before? You’ve already been invited: book directly, no need to apply. The same goes for a Prep Pack with a MasterClass (your spot is booked with your pack) and a MasterClass eGift Card someone gave you.

What happens during a MasterClass session?

There are two rounds. In the first, you perform your first piece and I coach you on it: we might try a section a few different ways, then you perform it again. In the second round, the speed round, you perform your second piece with no feedback, just the room cheering you on.

What if I’m nervous?

That’s normal, and that’s what the MasterClass is for: learning how to perform and move past stage fright, in a safe space, in front of an audience that’s there to cheer you on.

Is there a musician?

Yes. A live musician, a pianist or guitarist, plays for every singer. Singer-songwriters accompany themselves, and can ask the musician to join them. Rappers and spoken word artists bring their own backing tracks and speaker, or ask the musician to play along. Speakers, presenters, actors, comedians and storytellers don’t need music, but can ask the musician to play behind them. Your part of the MasterClass prep guide has the details.

Who needs sheet music?

Singers bring sheet music or a chart for both pieces. Singer-songwriters, rappers and spoken word artists bring it only if they want the musician to play with them (rappers and spoken word artists can also just ask the musician to improvise). Pick your role in the MasterClass prep guide to see your checklist.

Do I need sheet music if I’m speaking?

No. Speakers, presenters, actors, comedians and storytellers don’t need any music. You can ask the musician to play behind you on the day, with nothing to prepare.

Do I need to read sheet music?

Not at all. You only bring a copy for the musician. The MasterClass prep guide walks you through finding it and setting it up, one small step at a time.

Can I come to observe?

Yes, you’re welcome to come as an observer. It’s a workshop, so observers may be asked questions.

How much is an observer spot?

$75, plus HST. Spots are limited.

Is the MasterClass offered online?

No. MasterClass is offered in person only.

What if the MasterClass I want is full?

Join the waiting list on the booking page. If a place opens, everyone on the list is emailed at once, and the first to book gets it.

Is rescheduling allowed for MasterClass?

MasterClass performer bookings may be cancelled but are not eligible for rescheduling. Cancelled or missed performer bookings are non-refundable. Performers can cancel from My bookings. Observers: use the Reschedule button in your booking confirmation, reminder and follow-up emails, or sign in to My bookings with your email. MasterClass observer bookings may be rescheduled with 24 hours’ notice. With less than 24 hours’ notice, the booking is forfeited. Observer bookings are non-refundable.

What should I prepare for MasterClass?

Use the MasterClass prep guide to select and prepare material before the session.

How long is each piece?

Up to four minutes each. You bring two: one for coaching, one for the speed round.

When should I arrive?

Doors open at 1:00pm. All performers must arrive by 1:15pm; observers by 1:25pm. The session begins promptly at 1:30pm.

Does a parent need to come with a child performer?

Yes. The MasterClass is a mix of adults and young people. A performer under 18 comes with one parent or guardian, who stays with them for the whole MasterClass. Their spot is free.

Can I record?

You may record your own turn. Never record anyone else’s without their permission.

Does the MasterClass support audition preparation?

Yes. It provides performance and applied work that supports audition preparation.

Performance Lab

Up to four participants, everyone nervous, no audience except each other — just enough pressure to make voices improve lightning fast. Learn more about the Performance Lab.

Who participates in the Performance Lab?

Adults, 18 and up: up to four people, each taking a turn with their own piece.

What happens during a Performance Lab session?

A short warm-up together; then each person in turn performs their piece, gets feedback, tries a few things and may run it again; then a short wrap-up.

What if I’m nervous?

Everyone in the room is nervous, and that’s the point. I run the Lab to help you get past stage fright and focus on performing in front of others. A tiny bit of pressure in a small group helps you get comfortable fast, much faster than one-on-one.

Are observers allowed in Performance Lab?

No. Only participants attend.

Is the Performance Lab offered online?

No. The Performance Lab runs in person at the home studio, on the first and third Wednesday of each month (no Labs in July and August).

What should I prepare for Performance Lab?

Use the Performance Lab prep guide to choose material and prepare before the session.

How long is my piece?

Up to four minutes. You bring one piece.

Is there a musician?

No. Singers bring a backing track with no lead vocal, on their phone for my speaker, or email me the YouTube link or MP3 ahead.

When should I arrive?

Between 6:50 and 7:00pm. We start promptly at 7:00pm and finish at 8:30pm.

Can I record?

You may record your own turn. Never record anyone else’s without their permission.

What if the Lab I want is full?

Book the next Lab with space and join the waiting list for the one you want. If a place opens, you’re moved automatically. Haven’t booked yet? Ask to be emailed if a place opens.

Is rescheduling allowed for Performance Lab?

Yes, with 24 hours’ notice. Use the Reschedule button in your booking confirmation, reminder and follow-up emails, or sign in to My bookings with your email.

Performance Lab bookings may be rescheduled with 24 hours’ notice. With less than 24 hours’ notice, the booking is forfeited. Lab bookings are non-refundable.

Can the Performance Lab support audition preparation?

Yes. It provides performance and applied work that supports audition preparation.

Duo Coaching

Who is Duo Coaching for?

Duo Coaching is suitable for all experience levels.

What happens in the sessions?

As a duo, you sing together, and you each sing songs of your own choice. Focus areas may include tone, range, clarity, timing, harmony, blending, and performance.

Can sessions support specific goals or events?

Yes. Sessions may be used to prepare for auditions, competitions, performances, recordings, or personal events.

Do both participants attend together in the same session?

Yes. Both participants attend and work together during the same scheduled session.

The session goes ahead with the one who can. With 24 hours’ notice, you can reschedule it instead (within your package’s time, if it’s part of a Series).

In the Studio & Online

In Person

Where is the home studio located?

When should students arrive?

Arrive at your scheduled time. Do not come to the door early. There is no waiting area. Students are booked back-to-back.

Are parents required for minors?

Yes. Students under 18 must attend the first visit with one parent or guardian.

May a parent remain during the session?

Booking rules apply as normal. Purchase an eGift Card.

For Purchasers

What is an eGift Card?

An eGift Card is a gift of a small Prep Pack, a session or a workshop with Sensei Carolyn: a consultation, a MasterClass performer spot, a Performance Lab, a singing or public speaking lesson, a Series 3 or Series 5, or a duo session.

Which eGift Cards are available?

The Prep Packs Last-Minute Rush A (CA$460), Last-Minute Rush B (CA$575) or Getting Started (CA$575), one consultation (CA$190), one MasterClass performer spot (CA$225: they book their performer spot directly), one Performance Lab (CA$160), one singing or public speaking lesson (CA$190), a singing or public speaking Series 3 (CA$480) or Series 5 (CA$750), or one duo session (CA$360). The Vocal Dojo can be given too, from its own gift page.

How do I purchase an eGift Card?

Everything happens on the eGift Cards page. Choose the gift, choose a card design, and fill in who it is for and when it should arrive — then pay by credit card or bank transfer (Pay now), or by Interac e-Transfer to payments@vocaleuphoria.com. Details first, payment second, so nothing is lost if you are interrupted.

How is the eGift Card delivered?

You choose the delivery method in the form: sent directly to the recipient by email, sent only to you to forward or print, or no card sent with a confirmation receipt only. Delivery is on the morning of your chosen date, or as soon as the card is paid if no date is chosen.

Can I include a personal message?

Yes. You can write a custom message or use the generic message provided in the form.

Can anonymous gifts be processed?

No. Your name is required, and so is who it’s for: their name, or, if no card is sent, the occasion.

Does tax apply to eGift Cards?

Yes. You pay it when you buy the card, so nothing more is paid when it’s used. The tax is applied when the card is used.

Can I get a refund or transfer the card to someone else?

How long is the eGift Card valid?

eGift Cards are valid for one year from the date of purchase.

Book your session, then enter the code on your eGift Card when you pay. The card pays for the session or package named on it.

What happens to my eGift Card if my booking is cancelled?

The same rules apply as for any booking: with 24 hours’ notice you can reschedule; with less, the session is used. If an unpaid booking is released, your eGift Card stays valid for the rest of its year.

How does a Series eGift Card work?

A Series card is used for the whole Series, and its weeks start at your first session, not the purchase date.

Do eGift Cards expire?

Yes. eGift Cards are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Expired cards cannot be redeemed or extended.
